Welcome
House of Grace Witham is a registered charity started by Christians from local churches and run by volunteers. We are partnered with Green Pastures, a social enterprise which provides finance, skills and ongoing support and advice through a dedicated adviser.
We offer homeless people temporary accommodation and support to help them to get back on their feet and enable them to find and manage their own accommodation and employment. The motivation for this project arises from a Christian concern for those in difficult circumstances.
How it works:
1. We lease the accommodation from Green Pastures and finance the rent payments from the Residents’ Local Housing Allowance.
2. Trained volunteers fill the roles of project leader, administrator and treasurer, while suitably skilled volunteers take responsibility for ongoing maintenance.
3. Each resident has one or more support workers who meet them on a weekly basis. A number of volunteers offer skills across a range of activities.

You can support House of Grace Witham by purchasing supplies from our Amazon wishlist. All donations are gratefully received and used in the delivery of our supported housing project. The items we are in need of the most are household cleaning supplies such as floor and surface cleaners including those suitable for use in bathrooms and kitchens.

What can you do?
You can volunteer a few hours each week or occasionally as the need arises in one of the varied support roles.
You can donate financially. One-off gifts are gratefully received, whilst a regular standing order, however small, would be even better, as it helps to manage income and cover ongoing costs. Contact us to find out more about donating.
You can pray! The health and wellbeing of volunteers and residents alike, the need for funding and the management of day to day issues are ongoing topics for faithful prayer partners.
Volunteering roles at House of Grace Witham, a supported housing charity in Witham, providing accommodation, friendship and training for the homeless. Volunteers support activities to promote life skills and positive mental health for our residents. Examples include:
- gardening
- learning to play the guitar
- literacy skills
- walks exploring the local area
- social activities in the home or in local venues
- cooking skills
- accompanying individuals to appointments
- counselling
Other activities will be added dependent on volunteer skill sets and experiences.
Each resident will have two volunteer support workers who will jointly provide support for at least three hours each week. They will work with the resident through their individual support plan and would ideally be able to make a medium/long-term commitment.
Volunteers can help with maintaining the house, using their skills to carry out small repairs. This would be an ideal role if you have DIY skills.
The charity requires ongoing financial support and we are keen to work with volunteers who can organise or support a variety of fundraising events.
